Bruce Campbell now denies Army of Darkness 2 is happening; blames internet for 'misinformation'

11.06.2013by: Kevin Woods

Alright sir, the answer is yes."

Those were the exact words to come out of Bruce Cambell's mouth last month at the Wizard World Nashville Comic Con when a fan asked The Chin if a sequel to ARMY OF DARKNESS was coming. But if you were hoping that ARMY OF DARKNESS 2 was a definite go, then you only have the internet to blame for your crushing disappointment.

At least, that's what Campbell is saying now!

Now backpedaling, Bruce Campbell says he wasn't actually confirming another Ash adventure with his comments, and when the actor was asked about a sequel to ARMY OF DARKNESS by STYD, he blamed the internet for the "misinformation", stating...

"It's not news. Let me dispel that right now. It's all internet B.S. There's no reality whatsoever. These random comments slip out of either my mouth, or Sam Raimi's mouth, next thing you know we're making a sequel. So, unless it's announced from like Renaissance Pictures, it's not real. Or unless you have a start date, or release date. We do appreciate people's enthusiasm for another ARMY OF DARKNESS, but they should just wait until it's real. And I feel bad for people, because the internet is so prey to misinformation, it's unbelievable how much misinformation there is. So, I just encourage everybody get the real information, not just if you heard something."

Uh....okay?

We were quoting YOU, Bruce! The misinformation came from YOU! And the rumor of ARMY OF DARKNESS 2 happening was later seemingly verified by EVIL DEAD remake director Fede Alvarez when he tweeted that Sam Raimi would be directing the long-awaited sequel. So what gives?

Speaking of Alvarez, Bruce Campbell did confirm that the director will not be back for a sequel to last year's EVIL DEAD remake, despite the recent news (once again from Alvarez) that seemed to dispel the rumor that he was off of the film. Campbell was also asked if he would ever want to be a character in a Marvel zombies movie since Ash is in several of the comics.

"I will never play the character Ash for any other director other than Sam Raimi. So if he directs it, let's go. If he doesn't, see you later."

So there you have it. Who knows what the hell is going on with ARMY OF DARKNESS 2 (or EVIL DEAD 2 for that matter)? Frankly fans of the films are sick of being strung along. Either make it official or don't...but don't blame the internet for 'misinformation' that YOU put out there!

Extra Tidbit: It's on...it's off...it's happening...it's not. Are you as tired of it all as I am?

As usual...

Bruce makes a sarcastic remark to a fan clearly just to shut him up and witless "journalists" post it as fact.
Bruce was right in his "misinformation" remark and the many times we have been through this before you would think the horror site columnists would understand how Bruce does things by now.
He has said before when he is pressured he just gives the answer that they want, because the multitude of times he has said that "this is NOT happening" nobody chooses to listen.

This is silly

I commented on the original article, but I was there in Nashville in attendance at the event during which this "announcement" was made, and it is total B.S. that you guys or anyone else is reporting it as fact. Bruce Campbell does one of these Q&As at nearly every con he goes to, and even if you weren't there to listen to the tone of voice, you can tell from the transcript (that you guys published) that the man was JOKING. He gets asked questions from audience members, and AOD 2 is one of the
I commented on the original article, but I was there in Nashville in attendance at the event during which this "announcement" was made, and it is total B.S. that you guys or anyone else is reporting it as fact. Bruce Campbell does one of these Q&As at nearly every con he goes to, and even if you weren't there to listen to the tone of voice, you can tell from the transcript (that you guys published) that the man was JOKING. He gets asked questions from audience members, and AOD 2 is one of the most common (go look at all the vids posted on youtube of these various sessions). He was pandering, making a joke about how "old" he (and therefore Ash) is, and then just made an offhanded comment that "the answer is yes" to a AOD sequel.

Because sure, that's how they're going to announce it - as a quiet, off-handed sarcastic comment at the end of an answer to an audience member at a Q&A at a convention. It might be worth mentioning, but really, it's ridiculous that this site or any other would run the story as "BRUCE CAMPBELL SAYS AOD2 IS ON. FOR SURE. ETC." The responsible thing to do would be to file it under "rumor" and "wait and see until confirmed."

Sorry for all the quote marks.
