Cast assembled for Deep Murder, horror comedy set in the porn world

Funny or Die short-maker Nick Corirossi is set to make his feature directorial debut with a horror comedy called DEEP MURDER, and he has assembled an impressive cast to help bring the laughs and the murders to the screen.

Christopher McDonald, Katie Aselton Duplass, Johnny Simmons, Stephanie Drake, Jessica Parker Kennedy, and Chris Redd are all set to star in the film, which is set

inside the world of softcore pornography. It follows a group of porn stars and filmmakers who start getting picked off by a masked killer. According to the logline the characters originally come off as sex-obsessed archetypes but begin to evolve from cliches into real people as they are forced to figure out how to survive.

Because of the way these characters evolve, part of the pitch for the film was that it's "Like a softcore version of PLEASANTVILLE", the film in which a pair of modern teenagers get zapped into a 1950s TV show and their presence brings some major changes to that innocent, black and white world.

Producer Eric B. Fleischman referenced more films while discussing DEEP MURDER, saying that the humor is similar to that seen in raunchy comedies and in movies like NAKED GUN and AIRPLANE.

The screenplay for DEEP MURDER was written by Josh Margolin, Quinn Beswick, Nikolai Von Keller and Benjamin Smolen. Margolin and Beswick have also secured acting roles in the film.

Dark Web Productions is providing the funding. Fleischman is producing alongside Andrew Swett, Drew Foster, Jesse Berger, Pat McErlean, and Brent C. Johnson, with Josh Berger as co-producer, Teddy Cabugos and Michael Yedwab serving as executive producers, and Carl Braid as co-executive producer.

The plan is to have DEEP MURDER completed before the end of the year.

I like the sound of this one, dropping a masked slasher into a high concept comedy. I look forward to seeing it how turns out, and how the evolution of the characters is handled. We'll keep you updated on DEEP MURDER as we learn more.
