Castlevania Scores A Director!

Yesterday I told you about one long-talked-about video game adaptation scoring a director and today we’ve got another! Following the annoucement that Sam Raimi will be directing WARCRAFT we’ve now got a director attached to CASTLEVANIA!

Bloody-Disgusting broke word that none other than genre regular James Wan will be directing CASTLEVANIA! You read that right folks! SAW’s James Wan takes over directorial duties from the previously announced Sylvain White and will also be co-writing the script for producer Paul W.S. Anderson. Wait… Paul Anderson producing? Uh-oh. Here’s hoping Anderson will back off and collect the paycheck and let Wan do whatever the hell he wants to do!

Wan even talked to BD a bit about why he signed on for the project: “….I’ll be working on the script with a writer to give it a new spin, different to the previous versions….. The thing I love about what Konami did with Castlevania, was taking the iconic Dracula mythology and Eastern-European setting, and retelling it with a Japanese pop-cultural sensibility… For once, the human hero is as sexy and dangerous as the vampire villain, and his weapon of choice was what attracted me to the project in the first place – The Vampire Killer Whip.”
