Well well, here's a pleasant surprise. After learning this past summer of Michael Biehn and wifey Jennifer Blanc's plans to remake Chilean horror film HIDDEN IN THE WOODS, Artsploitation Films has scooped up the original with plans for a 2013 U.S. release. How about that!

Starring Siboney Lo (below), Serge Francois, Carolina Escobar, Jose Hernandez, Daniel Antivilo, Domingo Guzman, Carlos Candia, Nicole Perez and Marcelo Valladare:

Ana and Anny, two sisters whom have been raised in isolation, under the atrocity of drug dealing and the incestuous obsession of their grim father. When they, tired of the abuse, call the police, he kills two officers and is put in jail. Free from their father, the girls now will have to escape from Tío Costello, the local drug lord trying to recover a large amount of drugs hidden in the woods.

No telling exactly when in 2013 HIDDEN IN THE WOODS, from director Patricio Valladares, will drop, but my guess is a limited theatrical release will run concurrent with a VOD/DVD date. The flick made its premiere at Fantasia Fest this past summer.

Extra Tidbit: Any takers Biehn and Blanc's remake will release here in the states before the original does?

I was at the world premiere in Montreal during the Fantasia Festival but I have to say the movie let me down. I was expecting better. The gore is great and the two sisters look stunning, but the rest of the movie isn't really good. The story is just dumb and there is no real acting coming from the actors/actresses, only screaming and whinning. One of my 2 let-downs of the festival.

I will be on the lookout for Biehn's version though!

It's almost a certainty that the re-make will drop here(N. America) before the original .
