Chris Gorak's The Darkest Hour bumped back for a Christmas release

04.04.2011by: Alex DiVincenzo

Summit has pushed back the release of THE DARKEST HOUR to December 23 from its planned August 5 premiere. This will compensate for the production troubles (wild fires in Russia, where filming took place, halted filming last year) and hopefully capture holiday audiences.

The movie is described as a 28 DAYS LATER-like thriller, which sounds awesome to me, but I don't know if many people are going to want to see something like that during the Christmas season. The delay will give more time for publicity, as we haven't heard about the film in some time. On the bright side, no images means I get to post two photos of hot chicks!

THE DARKEST HOUR follows a group of Americans traveling in Moscow when an alien invasion occurs.

The 3D picture is directed by Chris Gorak (RIGHT AT YOUR DOOR), written by Jon Spaihts (PROMETHIUS) and produced by WANTED director Timur Bekmambetov. Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby (above), Max Minghella, Rachael Taylor (below), Joel Kinnaman and Tom Jacobson star.

Extra Tidbit: Chris Gorak previously served as art director on such films as FIGHT CLUB and FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS.
