Christina Ricci would love to return to The Addams Family

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Recently we got word that THE ADDAMS FAMILY animated movie had slapped together their voice cast, featuring an impressive line-up of Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll, Bette Midler, and Allison Janney. Again, that's one hell of an impressive line-up, but like some of the rest of you out there, I can't help but wonder, "Where was Christina Ricci in all that?"

Ricci, as you all know, is famous for playing the young, morose Wednesday Addams in director Barry Sonnenfeld's original set of live-action films THE ADDAMS FAMILY (1991) and ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES. Personally, I would love to see Ricci return to the clan as either adult Wednesday or – how cool would this be? – Morticia. But how does Ricci feel about returning to the ooky, spooky, and kooky world of THE ADDAMS FAMILY? Well, Cinema Blend recently asked her just that question, and it appears that she would love to return to the series.

Christina Ricci:

I would totally get back in bed with the Addams Family anytime.

Interesting choice of words aside, again, I would love to see Ricci return for another live-action film or a new TV series for that matter, so hopefully, this new animated movie makes enough cold hard cash to get another live-action iteration into the works. Fingers crossed. How excited would you be to see Ricci return in another live-action ADDAMS FAMILY movie/series? Let us know below!

The original 1991 film followed this synopsis:

When a man (Christopher Lloyd) claiming to be Fester, the missing brother of Gomez Addams (Raul Julia), arrives at the Addams' home, the family is thrilled. However, Morticia (Anjelica Huston) begins to suspect the man is a fraud, since he cannot recall details of Fester's life. With the help of lawyer Tully Alford (Dan Hedaya), Fester manages to get the Addams clan evicted from their home. Gomez realizes the two men are conspiring to swindle the Addams fortune and that he must challenge Fester.

The original film was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld from a script written by Caroline Thompson and Larry Wilson based on Charles Addams' comics. It starred Anjelica Huston, Raúl Juliá, Christopher Lloyd, and of course Christina Ricci as Wednesday Addams. It was released on November 22, 1991. Buy the original film on Blu-ray HERE.
