Christopher Smith’s bubonic plague flick Black Death pushed back to May

Last Updated on July 26, 2021

Earlier this month I gave you all an update on Christopher Smith’s BLACK DEATH in the form of several new stills for the film. Well at the time it was slated to hit the UK on February 26th. Oh my how things have changed.

We learned today that the film has been pushed back from February 26th to May 2010. Damn… that’s a pretty big jump. Unfortunately there’s no reasons given but we can always speculate. That’s fun. My gut is telling me this isn’t a bad thing. For one it’s coming from Chris Smith and secondly BLACK DEATH has been looking pretty solid. Let your theories run rampant below!

Medieval England has fallen under the shadow of the Black Death. In this apocalyptic world, filled with fear and superstition, a young monk called Osmund is charged in leading a fearsome knight, Ulric and his group of mercenaries to a remote marsh. Their quest is to hunt down a necromancer – someone able to bring the dead back to life. Torn between his love of God and the love of a young woman, Osmund discovers the necromancer, a mysterious beauty called Langiva. After Langiva reveals her Satanic identity and offers Osmund his hearts desire, the horror of his real journey begins.

BLACK DEATH stars Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne, Carice van Houten (below), David Warner, Kimberly Nixon, Emun Elliot, John Lynch, Andy Nyman, Johnny Harris, Marianne Graffam and Tim McInnerny. The film will now be hitting the UK sometimes this May.
