Chronicle scribe Max Landis returns to pen Chronicle 2

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Although Josh Trank may move on to spit a little VENOM, CHRONICLE scribe Max Landis is returning for the sequel…

Deadline can confirm that Landis (above), John Landis’ son, will indeed pen CHRONICLE 2 for Fox. The first flick, still in theaters, has already grossed $105 million worldwide. Considering it was only made for $12 million, it’s safe to say the flick is one of the most profitable of the new year.

No details were given for CHRONICLE 2, but suffice it to say it’ll keep the dark superhero, found-footage aspect intact…after all, why fuck with a tried and true formula. At the same time, we want something a little more than the first one offered, not that it sucked or anything, but because that’s simply what you expect with a sequel.

Here are the parameters to expound upon:

Three high school friends gain superpowers after making an incredible discovery. Soon, though, they find their lives spinning out of control and their bond tested as they embrace their darker sides.

Which angle should Landis take it?
