Chucky: Wanna Play? video game canceled

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

If you’re like me and was wondering what ever became of that awesome looking Chucky game that was in the works, here’s your answer: TikGames, who so far had put over half-a-million dollars into developing the project, has announced the game has been canceled.

I find this news a bit shocking, especially with CURSE OF CHUCKY on the way next year to raise the killer doll’s mainstream profile. However, according to TikGames the cancellation has come due to a lack of funds and a failed Kickstarter campaign:

“It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of this Kickstarter Campaign. For those who have followed Chucky this last week, you know that pledges have been very slow. We built a fun campaign with lots of great goodies, got the word out to as many people as we could, but sadly not enough people loved the concept of a Chucky video game as much as we did.”

Well, that’s a bummer. I was really, really looking forward to the prospects of a CHILD’S PLAY stealth, stalk, and slash video game. By the same token I had no idea a Kickstarter even existed for the game in the first place. Hell, I only knew about the game due to a Blu-ray insert and figured it was going to be a sure thing like the BACK TO THE FUTURE or JURASSIC PARK games from TellTale. Instead it has gone the way of SNAKE PLISSKEN’S ESCAPE and Color Dreams’ HELLRAISER NES game (Google that shite to have your mind blown). The opportunity to play a Chucky game will be sorely missed among hardcore fans, so let’s all take a second out of our day to pour one out on the curb for CHUCKY: WANNA PLAY?
