Dark Hollow adapted

04.10.2009by: Mike Catalano
In case, my pals, you don’t recall, I am an avid supporter of horror novel writers. Hoping to someday become published in the “scary story” biz, myself, it’s always cool hearing of the latest genre book getting bumped up into a film. Such is the case with DARK HOLLOW from award-winning horror author Brian Keene. The plot sounds equal parts cheesy B-movie and hardcore gothic—a winning equation in my book. Take a peek:

After two miscarriages, writer Adam Shay's marriage is on the rocks. On a walk through local woods rumored to be haunted, Adam come across a strange sight:a statue of a half-man, half-goat creature, a satyr from ancient legends, which comes to life before his eyes. Soon, all the women in town begin disappearing, summoned to the woods by the satyr's hypnotic piping. When Adam gathers the menfolk to hunt down the satyr and retrieve the women, what they uncover is an unholy evil bent on protecting itself and spreading its seed.

Well, there you have it. An evil, horny goat-boy versus the dudes whose poon-tang he stole. Sounds like some fun. The flick is to be directed by Paul Campion from a script by Paul Finch. Shane Rangi was already cast to play the evil goat-boy. Shooting is set to take place in Kent, England, though not actual start date was given.

If I was a satyr, I'd definitely summon Ms. Fischer.

Extra Tidbit: Paul Finch was "Shit-brick's" character's real name in AMERICAN PIE.
