Demian Bichir heads into space for Alien: Covenant

Last Updated on July 21, 2021

I have apparently seen a few movies that featured actor Demian Bichir, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in the 2011 film A BETTER LIFE, but it was Quentin Tarantino who really brought my attention to him by casting Bichir as the character Bob in THE HATEFUL EIGHT. Bichir's performance as the amusing and entertaining Bob was one of my favorite things about that film, so I am quite happy to hear the news that Bichir has signed on to experience some space-based horrors in director Ridley Scott's ALIEN prequel / PROMETHEUS sequel ALIEN: COVENANT.

Said to be picking up ten years after the events of PROMETHUS, COVENANT has the following synopsis:

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Michael Green, Jack Paglen, and John Logan wrote the screenplay.

Bichir joins a cast that includes Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, and Michael Fassbender, reprising his role as David.

ALIEN: COVENANT will soon commence filming in Australia for an October 6, 2017 release.
