William Brent Bell, who directed the video game thriller STAY ALIVE in 2006 and then went away for a while, is back early next year with THE DEVIL INSIDE, the microbudget horror flick from Paramount Insurge. With that movie poised to be a low-risk, high-reward success, Bell is already setting up his follow-up project.
The Wrap reports that Bell is attached to KIDNAP, which comes from a spec script by “Jackass” alumnus Knate Gwaltney. Matt Peterman is producing the thriller alongside Lorenzo DiBonaventura and Automatik. Stuart Ford of IM Global and Charles Layton are executive producing.
The basic premise concerns a woman whose son is kidnapped at a local mall and her subsequent race to find his abductors. Unfortunately that’s all we’ve got right now.
Gwaltney has appeared as himself on several episodes of MTV’s “Jackass”; he’s also acted as a producer and camera operator on the series and its movie spin-offs.
