Dexter spinoff is possible at Showtime, but not without Michael C. Hall

To be upfront, I did not watch "Dexter". Just never got into it. And from what I've heard about the way the series ended, I'm kind of glad about that fact. Nothing worse than sticking with a show for years only to have it shit the bed during its final hour.

For those of you who did stick with it and felt sincere disappointment when it was all over, perhaps the show has some redemption in store. Showtime chief David Nevins recently opened the door, ever so slightly, for a spinoff series of some kind.

Speaking at the TCA press tour, Nevins had this to pass along:

Its something we continue to talk about. If we were to do it, we would have to have a very good reason to do it. It would have to feel like its a new show. Im not interested in doing it if its just a continuation There have been some light, ongoing conversations. It hasnt really gone anywhere yet.

He then remarked that it would only make sense to do if Dexter himself were involved.

It would have to involve Michael [C. Hall]... I think if we were to do it, I would only do it if it was with Michael.

Nevins claims it would be a spinoff and not just a continuation, but if Dexter himself were in it, how would that be any different than just another season of the show? Clearly it's still very early yet, so we shouldn't expect any clarification for a while.

But, let it be known: Dexter may be rolling out the plastic tarp once again in the near future.

I am in

I love Dexter, however, didn't care for the last two seasons due to Hannah McKay. Dumb plot with her. I liked the ending of Dexter. What's nice is because Dexter went off the deep end and he is now completely detached. He is in a place where he knows nobody except maybe some co-workers. He has no one like Deb holding him back. Dexter can now be Dexter the serial killer he is. I can see it working well. Plus Showtime can save big bucks by not paying a a big bunch of series regulars and the

They get a chance to fix a great show and make something new a fantastic character. Everyone wins except the other series regulars.

So you didn't watch the show...

Very poor piece of writing, you are passing judgement on a show you admit to not having seen on what you have read from a few people on the net. Yes watch the show from opening season to final season and happy enough with the ending, as were a lot of people who actually got what it was about.

Perhaps you should write for AICN, they have a history of reviewing movies they haven't watched, just drop the fat ginger an email, am sure they have room for your talents.

Very disappointed that

Very disappointed that AITH has dropped to this level of writing

Spinoff No... Continuation..Yes...

How could they make a spinoff when by the end of the eighth season, all interesting characters aside from the amazing MCH were either killed off or written into obscurity over the last 4 seasons? I would be very much open to them doing one more season to make up for the last, which even to me, was a disappointment.
