As Showtime gears up its eighth, and possibly final, season of “Dexter”, we’re going to start gathering some casting and story intel on the dark drama. Today brings us some cool news on the casting front: British actress Charlotte Rampling has just joined “Dexter” as a potentially formidable foe.

According to EW, Rampling will have a recurring role as a neuro-psychiatrist who specializes in working with young psychopaths and profiling criminals in unorthodox ways.

Rampling is best known for her roles in THE NIGHT PORTER, THE VERDICT and, of course, ORCA.

Evidently the role has a significant impact on next season’s story. Will she uncover Dexter’s secret hobby of murdering murderers?

We’ll find out when “Dexter” comes back on air June 30th.

UPDATE: Deadline.com has just reported that Sean Patrick Flanery (THE BOONDOCK SAINTS) has been cast in the new season as well; he’ll play Jacob Elroy, the ex-cop owner of a private investigation company in Miami.
