Lionsgate recently announced that they will be releasing director Jackie Kong's 1987 cult classic horror/comedy BLOOD DINER on Blu-ray as part of their Vestron Video Collector's Series, and to celebrate this event Kong is taking the film out on the road.

An homage to H.G. Lewis's 1963 splatter movie BLOOD FEAST, BLOOD DINER tells the following story:

Two cannibalistic brothers kill various young women to make their flesh part of their new special dish at their rundown restaurant while seeking blood sacrifices to awaken a dormant Egyptian goddess.

Following the Blu-ray's September 27th release, Kong's BLOOD DINER Screening & UnDead Party will kick off on October 1st at the Spiderhouse Ballroom in Austin, Texas. Every BLOOD DINER Screening & UnDead Party event will include a showing of an HD DCP copy of the film, a Q&A with Kong, and "a berserk rock 'n roll party".

So far five dates and venues have been secured and announced:

AUSTIN Spiderhouse Oct 1

DENVER Alamo Drafthouse Oct 8

KANSAS CITY Screenland Armour Oct 22

NYC YONKERS Alamo Drafthouse Nov 11

BROOKLYN Alamo Drafthouse Nov 12

Details on Chicago and Miami screening parties are currently being worked out.

It's very cool to see this flick, which is kind of obscure, having a bit of a resurgence nearly thirty years after its initial release. BLOOD DINER is awesomely insane and great fun to watch with a group, so these roadshow screenings are sure to be a blast.
