Dorff to star with Ali and Ejogo in True Detective season 3

Leatherface Stephen Dorff

Stephen Dorff starred as a Texas lawman in the recently released TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE prequel LEATHERFACE, and now he's moving over to Arkansas for the third season of the HBO crime anthology series True Detective. Written by series creator Nic Pizzolatto (with Deadwood's David Milch co-writing one episode), this new season is about

a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods.

Joining a cast that already includes Mahershala Ali and Carmen Ejogo, Dorff will be playing

Roland West, an Arkansas State Investigator who, along with his partner, has his life and career influenced over three decades by a baffling crime.

The partner mentioned is Ali's character Wayne Hays. Ejogo is playing

Amelia Reardon, an Arkansas schoolteacher with a connection to two missing children in 1980.

Pizzolatto will be making his directorial debut this season, sharing directing duties with Jeremy Saulnier (MURDER PARTY, BLUE RUIN, GREEN ROOM).

I still need to catch up on the maligned second season of this show, but as a fan of the first season and of Saulnier, I am definitely interested in checking out season 3.

True Detective is executive produced by Pizzolatto, Saulnier, Scott Stephens, Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Cary Fukunaga, Steve Golin, Bard Dorros, and Richard Brown.
