Doug Jones would love to return for Hocus Pocus 2

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

A few weeks back we let you guys know that childhood horror favorite HOCUS POCUS will be getting not only a made-for-TV sequel (which Bette Midler is NOT happy about) but also a sequel in book form. But whatever ends up happening with the film's TV sequel, or possibly an official sequel, there is one original HOCUS POCUS actor that would love to return.

Yes, Doug Jones (THE SHAPE OF WATER, HELLBOY) would love the opportunity to return as the zombie-fied ex-boyfriend of Sarah Jessica Parker's character Billy Butcherson. In fact, the actor recently talked with Digital Spy and let them know just how much he looks forward to playing the (mostly) silent Billy Butcherson again.

Doug Jones of HOCUS POCUS 2:

There was talk about doing a '20 years later' sequel that I would have been involved with. I was actually approached and asked about that. I would love to reprise Billy Butcherson.

Doug Jones on if the official sequel will still happen:

It's not off the table. The news article that I read about this TV movie sounds like… I'm not sure if it's a reboot or if it is that '20 years later' sequel. It was grey about what the storyline was. So I'm just going to keep my knees bent and be ready in case they call.

Jones on the original film's cult following:

It only grows in popularity every year. I did not see that coming, that 24 years later it would be more popular now than it's ever been! That's crazy for a movie to do!

I don't know about you, but I would love to see Doug Jones return as Billy Butcherson in an official HOCUS POCUS 2. What about YOU? Let us know below!

HOCUS POCUS synopsis:

After moving to Salem, Mass., teenager Max Dennison (Omri Katz) explores an abandoned house with his sister Dani (Thora Birch) and their new friend, Allison (Vinessa Shaw). After dismissing a story Allison tells as superstitious, Max accidentally frees a coven of evil witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy) who used to live in the house. Now, with the help of a magical cat, the kids must steal the witches' book of spells to stop them from becoming immortal.

The original film was released on July 16, 1993. Buy it on Blu-ray HERE.
