HOT FUZZ - July 31st
If you missed this homage to the 80s action movie in the theater, join the club- but don’t worry, you don’t have to wait too long to check it out on DVD. From what I’ve heard, it’s one of the best movies of the year thus far, and with Edgar Wright and the rest of the SHAUN OF THE DEAD crew on board, it’s no wonder it rocked the Kasbah- and yeah, even the DVD artwork and features kick-ass!
The Goods:
LABYRINTH – ANNIVERSARY EDITION - August 14th
Maybe one of the best Fantasy films of all time, featuring one of the hottest chicks ever (before she was boinkable- yes, I said boinkable) and even muf*ckin’ David Bowie is in the house, is getting the Anniversary Treatment... and those of us who remember when this came out in theaters are all hit with the realization that we are getting old. Has it been over 20 years already??? Some sweet new footage is new on this disc, though it’s unknown if it’s worth a double-dip at this point.

THE DARK CRYSTAL – ANNIVERSARY EDITION - August 14th
And while we’re at feeling old, how about this 25th anniversary of THE DARK CRYSTAL, featuring a cast of puppets! Is it me, or is the chick with the weird eye thing one of the creepiest characters on film? I don’t know what it is about that biotch, I can’t stand looking at her. More footage from Jim Henson’s house is found here, and if you’re a CRYSTAL fanatic, this will likely need to be in your collection.

COMMANDO: DIRECTOR’S CUT - September 18th
This may be one of my favorite 80s action movies of all time, featuring Ahnuld against an army militia of hundreds... and surprisingly enough- Arnie kills them ALL. Pure entertainment and another pre-hottie stars with Alyssa Milano as Arnie's kidnapped daughter. An extra 5 minutes? Could it be worth it? Only if Arnie kills about 50 more people and squeezes off one more one-liner… and in 5 minutes, I’d say that’s totally doable. Probably not worth it unless you have the crappy previous DVD version that’s not enhanced for widescreen TVs- I have that one, and it sucks- so no doubt this one’s on my list. “Let off some steam, Bennett.”

FLIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: OUTBREAK ON A PLAN –October – Because you can’t deny that a zombie movie on a plane sounds like a flippin’ blast!
THE TRIPPER –October 23rd – Because a Ronal Reagan masked hippy killing machine screams more entertainment than POINT BREAK on acid.
GRINDHOUSE UNIVERSE – August 14th – Because if you thought 4 movie trailers in GRINDHOUSE was a good time, then this disc featuring 2 hours of just trailers really is your bag!
GRINDHOUSE-September 18th- Because unlike the rest of America, you know this is some of the best 3 hours you’ll spend in front of the TV this year.
