UNDEAD OR ALIVE -December 11th

Westerns, zombies and comedies. Tell me, why hasn't this combination of genres been done before? Seriously, how is it possible that this is the first time we've seen zombie action set in the wild west with an ex-SNL star? The potential here for this to be awesome is way, way up there! Seriously, WAY up there... but, my gut is telling me, this is gonna painful to watch. Regardless, I'll be checking it out this December when it's too cold outside to be doing anything else.

The Goods:

  • 16x9-enhanced 2.35:1 widescreen
  • Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround audio
  • Audio commentary by Phillips and actors Chris Kattan, James Denton and Navi Rawat
  • Two making-of featurettes
  • Trailers

    WEREWOLF: THE DEVIL’S HOUND - December 4th

Werewolf movies are fun, even when they suck... and let's face it, the majority of werewolf movies do, in fact, suck. So a little diddy that's straight to video featuring one pissed off hound from hell... sheit, I'll be there with bells and whistles and a bag of popcorn! Maybe this will be the werewolf movie we've been waiting for...

THE REDSIN TOWER - October 10th

If you're idea of a good time includes brutal death sequences and hardcore gore, then this may just as well be for you. I can dig the cover, and all the features, but I'm not sure if I'm man enough to check it out. It may be a little too hardcore for me, but as they say... different strokes for different folks.

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic Widescreen
  • 5.1 Audio Surround Sound
  • Introduction by Toetag
  • Audio commentary by filmmakers Fred and Shelby Lyn Vogel, Jerami Cruise and Cristie Whiles
  • Butchering Becky with commentary by Cruise
  • Trailers

    WHISPER - November 27th

It's always sad to hear about a flick with so much theatrical potential getting the shaft, and switched straight to DVD at the last minute. Case in point is WHISPER (hell, we even hit up the set visit not too long ago), which has been given the theatrical shuffle for so long... and then dumped STD. This either means 2 things: one, that the movie blows buttholes, or two, it rocks in a way only fans of the genre can appreciate. Do I smell a cult favorite possibly brewing here? I guess we'll have to wait till November to find out...

    The Goods:

  • 1.85:1 Widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1

    YEAH

Blue underground is dope as is anchor bay. And since I love cemetery man I best be checking out stage fright and the church, althought ive known of them for awhile. I always thought the church was directed by argento but thats where anchor bay confused me by puttin the dario argento collection at the top of the discs even who he only produced or wrote the film but still argento is the man and is most recongnizable name and deserves the props anyway

    No Nudity????

Then what's the point of that movie??? =) Ah well... thanks for the heads up Kung-Fu Bear, you saved us all the pain of sitting through some ABC Family, non-nudity trash.

As far as the re-releases, it looks like Blue Underground is releasing a lot of these older horror flicks, though they don't appear to be fully packed with extras... I'd assume the transfers are quality, but... you guessed it, that'd be making an ass out of both U and Me, so don't assume that at all...

    The Initiation Of Sarah

Ammon, I regret to inform you that this remake flick does NOT have gratuitous Sorority House nudity written all over it. Why? Because, it's an ABC Family production, made for cable. It plays more like the show Charmed, which depending on your opinion of that program, at least this has cutie Summer Glau in it. :)

    Re-Releases?

Hey, didn't John August have a zombie western script floating around for years that nobody wanted to take a chance on? Oh well. Anyway, what's with The Church and Stagefright hitting DVD this Halloween? They're already available. I know this because I own them both. I know Anchor Bay discontinued The Church, but why? So they could put out the exact same disc again? Unless these titles are packed with special features and solid transfers, then I don't see the point, I mean at all! What gives?
