APRIL FOOL’S DAY - March 25th

For reasons only studio suites know, they remade the campy 80s slasher classic APRIL FOOL'S DAY, only to release straight to DVD... in March. Of course, if they would have waited one week - one week to the day - they would be releasing it on April 1st - the actual April Fool's Day - but I suppose that would make too much sense. PS - this cover sucks, although I will admit... that's a nice red dress. Very eye-catching. So eye-catching, I want to live in it -- along with her friends...

The Goods:

  • Widescreen aspect ratio
  • Dolby Digital 5.1 sound

    BEOWULF - February 26th

For all of you who thought this was the bubonic chronic, then get ready to throw your set in the air and wave it around like you just don't care. Or simply, get excited. Not only is it rockin' a director's cut, but that said director's cut also includes an assload of features the theatrical cut doesn't get. So... why get the theatrical cut? Now the big question on everyone's mind: will Angelina be even more naked in the uncut version?

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
  • Featurette: A Hero's Journey: The Making of Beowulf (Only Extra on Theatrical Cut)
  • Featurette: Beasts of Burden
  • Featurette: The Origins of Beowulf
  • Featurette: Creating the Ultimate Beowulf
  • Featurette: The Art of Beowulf
  • Additional Scenes: Wealthow Shows Beowulf the Sundial
  • Additional Scenes: Beowulf Boasts to the People of Herot

    WRESTLEMANIAC - March 11th

It amazes me that it's been this far in movie making history, and the story of a killer Mexican wrestler hasn't been told yet. It was only a matter of time... and thank Zeus for that! The world needs MORE wrestle-maniac movies - because, when it comes down to it, it would be a far better place if that were the case. Sure, there'd still be wars and violence against women, but if there's a movie about a killer Mexican wrestler to bring in some comedic relief - well, then it'd be totally worth it.

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic widescreen (16X9)
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
  • Audio commentary by Baget, cinematographer Tabbert Fiiller and actor Adam Huss
  • Wrestling the Maniac: Behind the Scenes of WRESTLEMANIAC featurette
  • Trailer

    THE LOST - March 4th

Based on the novel by Jack Ketchum, THE LOST is comin' at ya with a DVD release that even has a commentary track from the author himself. How many times does that happen? Not many! Actually, there's not much here to work with besides that - especially considering the cover is what we like to refer to as 'boring,' although it does feature some blood and bullet holes - it doesn't matter, cause it still looks boring.

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
  • Audio commentary by author Jack Ketchum and novelist Monica O'Rourke
  • Audition footage
  • Outtakes
  • Storyboard sequence
  • Trailer

    DVD Covers:

    Honorable Mentions:

BORDERLAND –March 18th – Because the cover is creepy, and I heard it's pretty f*cked up, too.

DEATH’S OF IAN STONE –March 18th – Because... that is all. Just because.

UNEARTHED – March 18th - Because if you pick up the first two AFTER DARK entries mentioned above, you can have yourself a triple feature with this one, and your very own AFTER DARK HORROR-FEST!

That's all for this week! Stay tuned every week for your latest DVD news, and as always, feel free to shoot me an email (ammongilbert@joblo.com ) for any & all DVD news, scoops, and easter eggs!
