HITMAN - March 11th

I heard mixed reviews around this latest video game adaptation, but honestly, the biggest reason why I didn't see it is because I'm not a big Timothy Olyphant fan. Actually, he was about the last person I would have picked to play the Hitman, as he's just not bulky enough or badass enough to do the character justice. But what the hell do I know, I didn't even give the damn thing a chance! Now I can, in both a single and double disc unrated edition... yay!

The Goods:

  • Widescreen aspect ratio
  • DTS 5.1 Surround tracks
  • Single Disc - deleted scenes (Ovies Pool Sce, Hospital Sce, A Different Train Platfo, and Udres Death) and an alternate ending
  • Double Disc - deleted scenes
  • In The Crosshairs featurette
  • Digital Hits featurette
  • Settling the Score featurette
  • Instruments of Destruction featurette
  • A gag reel
  • Digital copy of the film
  • Trailers

LEPRECHAUN TRIPLE FEATURE - March 11th

Just in time for St. Patty's Day, the first three LEPRECHAUN movies are comin' at ya in a 'franchise collection' that will leave you wondering... what about the other three films in the series?? Given, with Leprechaun here going to space, then to the hood, then back to the hood... they feel like different franchises all together, but come on! A full forced compilation is in demand here! Weak-sauce audio and full frame plague this set, but if you're gonna go with cheesy 90s horror, you might as well rock it like it's VHS!

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic widescreen Part 2
  • Full Screen Part 1, Part 3
  • English Dolby Digital 2.0

    AWAKE - March 4th

There are seven deleted scenes attached to this DVD, and I don't think I'm the only one hoping that all seven of those scenes features Jessica Alba... naked. I mean, there's plenty of fodder for a few extra showers scenes, sex scenes, waking up naked scenes, and my all time favorite: jogging in the rain completely naked scene. Not that they have anything to do with the movie or with the storytellig process... but come on, there's always room for an extra scene or two like that! The cover art isn't half bad here (compared to the theatrical), though not nearly cool enough to blind-buy.

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic Widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
  • Audio commentary
  • Seven deleted scenes
  • Behind the scenes featurette
  • Storyboard-to-film comparisons

BATS: HUMAN HARVEST - March 11th

BATS wasn't a great movie, but it wasn't the worse of it's kind either. So color me surprised to see they made a STD sequel - I guess it was more successful than I thought! I'm guessing there's no Lou Diamond Phillips or Dina Meyer back in action for a second go-round, but I'm sure there's plenty of... bats... to pick up the slack! I'm somewhat confused as to the title, as I'm not exactly sure what 'Human Harvest' means, but if we're lucky, we'll be seeing some sweet half man/ half bat mutants wreaking havoc all over town. Wait... dare I say, a Bat-Man? Call in the DARK KNIGHT movie tie-in police!

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
  • Deleted Scenes

I didn't like Hitman that much. They probably did the best they could have...kinda a difficult character to bring to the big screen. And the whole sword fight scene was ridiculous and completely out of place in my opinion.

It's all about Mulberry St. Saw it at Toronto After Dark and it was one of the best little indie gems I've seen in a long time, except for the AMAZING Automaton Transfusion in which the sequel needs to come out like tomorrow!

I saw Nightmare Man at a film festival in late 2006. Actually pretty good for a low-low budget horror film.

Thought Hitman was "aaaiiight." But I'm a big Timothy Olyphant fan.

And can I just say Leprechaun Triple Feature - HELL TO THE YEA!
