BLACK DAHLIA - October 10th

If watching some true horror of a real life psychopath yanks your crank, this should be exciting to the max. While itís not based on the true story of The Black Dahlia from 1947, it is about a copycat killer, who likes to slice and dice his victims in the same fashion. Whatís that fashion, you ask? Well I guess youíll have to check out the flick on DVD when it comes out. Hmmmm, just in time for the theatrical release of the Brian De Palma flick of the same nameÖ. coincidence? I think not.

The Goods:

  • An Anamorphic Widescreen Transfer
  • Dolby Digital 5.1
  • Audio Commentary with director Ulli Lommel and Other Cast Members
  • Trailers.

    SLITHER - October 24th

This almost makes me wish that all kick ass horror flicks bombed at the box office, because all the cool shite attached to this disc is bomb-bastic! I mean, really, do you think they could have slipped a little more on here? I for one enjoyed the humor and the slime of the flick, and canít wait to watch Elizabeth Banks gooed up over and over and over again. And whatís this? Just in time for Halloween? Couldnít have planned it better myself.

    The Goods: Both Films

  • DVD commentary by James Gunn and Nathan Fillion
  • Deleted scenes, including the infamous Grant Grant meat filing scene, Grant Grant's speech to Brenda about how he loves to be human, "Starla and the inchworm", and many more. All these scenes will also feature commentary
  • Extended scenes, including the full porch scene between Bill and Starla, Kylie's more complete explanation of "The Long One," the full scene in the butcher shop with Grant Grant, and more. Again, these scenes will also feature commentary
  • The Gag Reel - In which you can see just a hint of how many takes Elizabeth Banks screwed up by laughing.
  • "Who is Bill Pardy?" - This was a surprise we made for Nathan at the wrap party, in which the cast and crew essentially roasted him. I asked Nathan if he was cool with it being on the DVD, and he was. So... watch us brutally make fun of him...
  • "The Sick Minds and Slimy Days of SLITHER" - A very in-depth, very well done documentary on the making of SLITHER, featuring the whole cast and crew. I honestly couldn't be happier with this thing
  • "Bringing SLITHER's Creatures to Life" - A documentary on the prosthetics and CGI effects in the movie
  • "Slithery Set Tour with Nathan Fillion" - This is the much longer version of the little bit you can see online here. At the end of this video, I say some of the crudest stuff I've ever said... and I can't believe Universal left it in
  • VFX Progressions, from start to finish, featuring kickass music by The Raymakers
  • "The King of Cult: Lloyd Kaufman's On-Set Video Diary" - See the President of Troma Entertainment and the creator of THE TOXIC AVENGER (and my old boss) find himself lost in the world of Hollywood with his cameo role in SLITHER
  • "The Gorehound Grill: Brewin' the Blood" - A short how-to-make-your-own-blood-and-slime video

THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT 2- October 10th

While Iím a fan of the Ashton Kutcher/Amy Smart time travel flick, I donít know if Iím going to be able to get into this STD. Why? To tell ya the truth, this Eric Lively fella does nothing for me. Nothing! He kind of bugs me. After sitting through the trailer I realized that I couldnít sit through the whole thing rooting for that guy! But I will say this: co-star Erica Durance is f*ckiní hot. Amy Smart hot? Eh, almost. But almost is pretty good. And since she frolics in close to nothing through half the movie, I suppose that makes this one worth a view.

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic Widescreen Transfer
  • Dolby Digital 5.1 EX & 2.0 tracks
  • Audio Commentary with director John Leonetti
  • Behind-the-Scenes Featurette.

    CELLO - July 25th

Iím afraid of cellos, but not because Iím afraid of them killing me- more like, Iím afraid of being made to play an instrument. Yes, I have a scarred childhood. No, I donít wanna get into it. Tartan Extreme is at it again, this time a cello player is haunted by crazy dreams of death and destruction after a savage car accident. Definitely worth a look, as just watching the trailer made me almost poop myself. Almost. Plus, being covered in blood never looked so good!

    The Goods:

  • Presented in Anamorphic Widescreen
  • Dolby Digital and DTS Surround Sound 5.1
  • Special DVD Features are TBD
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Original Theatrical Trailer;
  • Trailers of Tartan AE's Upcoming Releases.

HOUSE OF THE DAMNED - September 5th

This movie only proves why itís a bad idea to stay the night in abandoned castles. How these people thought it was a good idea is beyond me, but it resulted in one classic haunted house story back in 1963. The artwork below is rockiní, which leads me to another truth- abandoned castles that look like this shouldnít be touched with a ten foot pole.

    The Goods:

  • Both An Anamorphic Widescreen Transfer and A Pan & Scan Version
  • Dolby 2.0 Stereo and 2.0 Mono Audio Tracks in English
  • Optional French and Spanish subtitles.
