THE COVENANT - January 2nd

Why the tagline here doesn’t say “From the Director of DIE HARD 2, or CLIFFHANGER, or THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT or DEEP BLUE SEA” is beyond me, cause really- who cares about producers? They don’t have nearly the creative input that directors put forth, not to mention that it’s a Renny f*ckin’ Harlin movie, and that guy knows how to party! Sure, this is just a rip-off of THE LOST BOYS, with a weak-ass PG-13 rating, but what a way to bring in the New Year… right?

The Goods:

  • Anamorphic Widescreen
  • Full Screen
  • English and French Dolby Digital 5.1 SurroundTracks
  • Director’s Commentary
  • Behind the Scenes Featurette.

THE WICKER MAN – SPECIAL EDITION - December 19th

This is the “A Billion Times Better Than The Shitty Remake” Edition, with 2 discs exploring the awesomeness of this classic tale of orgies, weirdos and religious freaks. I like the new cover, but other than that… it doesn’t look like this package will give you any more than any of the other previous editions have. This one’s for all the suckas to actually liked the remake, as a way to school them in what a good movie really looks like. Wicker on!

    The Goods:

  • 2 Disc Set
  • Original 88 Min.
  • 99 min. UK theatrical cut
  • 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen
  • Dolby Digital 5.1 & Mono Tracks
  • New Audio Commentary with Robin Hardy, Edward Woodward, Christopher Lee and Moderator Mark Kermode
  • “The Wicker Man Enigma” Documentary
  • Theatrical Trailer
  • TV& Radio Spots
  • Cast/Crew Bios

    THE DESCENT - December 26th

We’ve seen this bad boy come through here before, but now we have official specs you can count on! Gotta love the goods this one’s carrying, but as it’s such a kick ass movie, it could have No extras and it’d still be the bomb. As long as it holds on to that claustrophobic feel I got from the theater, I’m game!

    The Goods:

  • English Dolby Digital 2.0 and 5.1 Tracks
  • Subtitles Will Include English and Spanish
  • Director's Commentary with the Cast
  • Trailers
  • Uncut Editions: Second Director's Commentary with the Crew
  • Making-of Featurette
  • Deleted and Extended Scenes
  • storyboard/scene comparison
  • Stills Gallery
  • Cast/crew Bios
  • Outtakes
  • Interview with the Director.

    SAW III - January 23rd

What the flying shit???? Yep, you got that right folks, a quick turn around to theaters can only mean a quick turn around to DVD. This was announced once SAW III killed the box office last weekend, so no special specs are out yet, but I can only imagine what they’ll have in store for us. Give me some of that sweet director commentary, baby! Oh, and expect a SAW-ILOGY box set to be released around the same time.

    The Goods:

  • Nothing Announced Yet

    DVD Covers:

    Honorable Mentions:

SILENT SCREAM – December 5th – Because the cover’s kind of creepy, and you ain’t got nothing better to do.

SERUM – January 9th – Because the cover rocks, and I can only imagine what they do with needles in this one.

MEXICAN WEREWOLF IN TEXAS – January 9th – Because the title alone makes me want to see it. Biggest title rip-off of a beloved classic ever? Yup, and this ain’t even the porn version either!

That's all for this week! Stay tuned every week for your latest DVD news, and as always, feel free to shoot me an email (ammongilbert@joblo.com ) for any & all DVD news, scoops, and easter eggs!
