TCM: THE BEGINNING - January 16th

January is the new October. Accompanying SAW III with an October theatrical release, TCM: THE BEGINNING is hitting DVD some 3 months later in both a rated and unrated version. It’s to note that besides a few minutes here and there, and the different covers, the special features are the same for both. Personally, I’m diggin’ the unrated cover, and for a movie like this, why would you want the rated version anyway? Save that Xmas money and watch Leatherface & co. do their thang- I’m sure it’s what grandma really wanted to give ya anyway.

The Goods:

  • Anamorphic Widescreen Presentation
  • English DD5.1, DTS 6.1 Surround and DD2.0 Stereo
  • English and Spanish subtitles
  • Deleted/extended scenes
  • Audio commentary with director Jonathan Liebesman and producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form

  • “Down to the Bone” behind-the-scenes documentary
  • Theatrical trailer

THE GRIM REAPER - January 16th

I can’t tell if this is like FINAL DESTINATION, except with an actual physical Grim Reaper, or if it’s like BILL & TED’S BOGUS JOURNEY, which also featured Mr. Reaper here playing games and getting high. Either way, I’m diggin’ this cover, and I have a feeling a couple of three people probably die in this one as well. Definitely rental worthy, especially if you show up looking for TCM: THE BEGINNING and they’re all out.

EVIL (TO KAKO) - January 30th

A Greek zombie film. That’s all you really had to say, as you don’t really see those too often. I’d trade in some sappy dramas and heart wrenching romantic comedies for an unrated romp of the undead any day. Released through Danger After Dark, so you know it’s gonna be f*cked up, and rockin’ some killer cover art, this is one Toga party you don’t want to miss out on.

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic 1.85:1 Widescreen
  • 5.1 Dolby Digital Audio (Greek with optional English subtitles)
  • Photo Gallery
  • The Original Trailer

    DVD Covers:

    Honorable Mentions:

NIGHT SKIES – January 23rd – Because that chick from FINAL DESTINATION 2 is in it, and I haven’t seen her in anything else since.

INFERNO – February 27th – Because it’s classic Dario Argento, and the new release will only be available for a limited time- so dig in!

AUTOPSY – February 27th – Because this movie’s f*cked up… and shows you the wonderful inside world of working in a morgue!

That's all for this week! Stay tuned every week for your latest DVD news, and as always, feel free to shoot me an email (ammongilbert@joblo.com ) for any & all DVD news, scoops, and easter eggs!

Grim Reaper has a slick ass cover, and I like how the TCMB unrated cover has some sort of leathery skin like feel to it.

A.J. Cook - the chick from Final Destination 2 - has been in the highly successful (and quite pathetic) TV series Criminal Minds.
