BLOOD AND CHOCOLATE – May 29th

Wow, this may be one of the first times that a truly crappy movie sports a truly crappy DVD cover. Were they even trying at all to make this stinker look cool enough to rent? Was their attempt to see how much money they could flush down the toilet? It’s like they had a contest to see how much stuff one could fit on the cover that would appeal to everyone. Hot chick? Check. Hot dude? Check. Wolves/animals? Check. Full moon & scary looking castle? Check. Does this movie still suck balls? Check.

    PRIMEVAL
    – June 12th

While this isn’t the official DVD cover, I do hope they try and play up the crocodile factor, and not try to sell it like a serial killer movie per their theatrical treatment. Play the croc up! While it may not have been the best movie ever, it’s surely worth a flippin’ rental if nothing else. Orlando Jones and killer crocodiles? Count me in for a fun evening! Check back in the next few weeks for the official artwork, and let’s hope the croc is chowing down like it is on this UK one-sheet.

    HANNIVAL RISING
    – June 5th

I missed this puppy on purpose when it hit theaters because it looked nothing more than a so-so time-waster, and nothing that deserved my dwindling 8 bucks. Just in time for those pre-summer blues, when all the cool stuff is rented out and all that’s left is this. Yippie. Stick around for the official artwork and specs, as we’ll bring em’ to ya live when they’re announced.

    GHOST RIDER
    – June 12th

Sony is wasting no time with this surprise blockbuster, not 4 months to the day, Nic Cage and his flaming skull will be kickin’ ass on DVD. Not that I’m complaining, and considering the short attention span of everyone in America, better they release it sooner than later, or some might (gasp!) forget this movie ever existed. Specs and artwork to come.

    ZODIAC – June 26th

Why doesn’t David Fincher get the love he so rightfully deserves? All I heard when this was initially released was how long it was, and how it’d be so much better if it were shorter, and on and on and on. No one talked about the beauty of each shot, or the great performances by the entire cast. Nope. It was just a LONG movie. Well f*ck those people. I also heard a reviewer complain cause they didn’t like the ending. No joke, they thought it ended on a downer… maybe someone should’ve told them it was based on a true story.

    Honorable Mentions:

    ALICE, SWEET ALICE
–May 1st – Because it’s the first time this classic 70s slasher has made it to the small screen since VHS, and it features one young Brooke Shields… getting killed!

    THE MAD
–May 22nd – Because it stars muthaf*ckin’ walk-off judge Billy Zane battling zombies in the country side!

    ISOLATION
    –June 26th –
Because it deals with the horrors of working on a farm. And getting tortured. All set in scenic Ireland… fun times!
