As Franck Khalfoun's MANIAC redo works toward its May 26th midnight Cannes screening, a trio of official stills from the grisly slasher flick have been put out. As you can see, Elijah Wood is maniacally lifting the blade with zero qualms about wearing another person's blood on his face. Not sure the same can be said for that other broad. Sheesh!

Co-written with Khalfoun by Alexandre Aja:

Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank's obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.

America Olivo (below), Nora Arnezeder, Sal Landi, Morgane Slemp, Liane Balaban, Sammi Rotibi, Megan Duffy, Jan Broberg, Akbar Kurtha, Genevieve Alexandra and Freedom all appear in the film.

Once he was "Frodo Baggins", now he is "Frank Zito" in "Maniac".

I truly like the first display pic. But it is still to early to tell. Despite that Alexandre Aja, Gregory Lavisseur and Franck Khalfoun (Director of the guilty Christmas horror-thriller pleasure "P2") will be great. Certainly Aja and Lavisseur did wonders with "The Hills Have Eyes" remake.

At least, like Wes Craven and Peter Locke were involved with "The Hills Have Eyes" remake. Pro B Movie Filmmaker William Lustig and Andrew Garroni are involved with producing this remake. Let's hope, it is

Also since Aja is only producing. Which he was supposed to directed this remake. I would love to see him doing original movies soon (Well, most movies are familiar these days) but at least, he is much better, when he comes to Marcus Nipsel. Who only works on remakes as well.
