Noam Murro's 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE has just dropped the axe on us with a ton of kickass new stills and we've got each and every one of them right here for you guys to dig through. The sequel will cover a lot of ground this time around as it takes place before, during, and after the events of Zack Snyder's 2006 film 300. The story follows the naval battles between Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) and Artemisia (Eva Green) and the latter’s control over Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro).

Even though 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE has no doubt a very large hill of dead bodies to climb, so far it looks like Murro was up to the task because he absolutely nailed the atmosphere and stylish look of the first film. But did he deliver a kickass story with even better action? Time will tell! The stills are absolutely gorgeous, giving us a brief look at the world of 300 and the battles that will litter the land. I'm really looking forward to seeing how these naval battles pan out because so far they look like they're going to be pretty sick. See for yourselves below!

Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war. “300: Rise of an Empire” pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and Artemisia (Eva Green), vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

The action adventure stars Sullivan Stapleton ("Gangster Squad") as Themistokles and Eva Green ("Dark Shadows," "Casino Royale") as Artemesia. Lena Headey reprises her starring role from "300" as the Spartan Queen, Gorgo; Hans Matheson ("Clash of the Titans") stars as Aeskylos; and Rodrigo Santoro stars again as the Persian King, Xerxes. 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE opens in theaters on March 7th.
