Here's the first, rather unusual poster for EVIL DEAD, which has been proclaimed "the most terrifying film you will ever experience." Damn, that's raising the already-high expectations for the film up to unreachable heights. But hell, who are we to argue? Let's see what you got, movie!

In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

EVIL DEAD stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas and Elizabeth Blackmore; it's due to hit theaters on April 12, 2013.

HOW CAN IT BE?

How can it be a bad remake? When it is being produced by the same from the Original and including Bruce Campbell along with a few others. It looks sick!!!

The Original proclaimed ....

I'm sure this is just a reference to the original film's proclamation, "The Ultimate Experience in Gruelling Terror". They should have said "The Ultimate Remake of a Gruelling Experience in Terror", or such.

Well... On one hand, I thought the original was a near perfect film...

On the other hand, the trailer looks pretty impressive. The director looks like he took the film in a darker direction than Raimi's, and while it was part of the original's charm, this one isn't limited to the low budget or the technology of it's time. The fact that they are so confident in the film, I feel like this remake could be decent, but "most terrifying film you will ever experience" might be a bit of a stretch.
