In an article over at Freep propping the new "Spartacus" mini-series airing on Starz, Sam Raimi's longtime producer Robert Tapert (who works on "Spartacus" along with Raimi) dropped a big old bombshell regarding the EVIL DEAD remake we all probably assumed was dead and buried...
"It's possible; we're looking at a script this month" Tapert said. "What's interesting about 'Evil Dead' is very few people saw it in the format we made it for, which is for the theater. ... I think Sam wants to embrace the ultimate experience in grueling terror and see it remade for a proper theatrical experience."
It's been no secret that Raimi has pushed surprisingly hard for a remake of what is still probably his most beloved film. We all know that he wanted OLDBOY director Chan-Wook Park to helm it, only to be turned down by the wise man. No other names - that I can recall - have turned up in conjunction with the gig, but I guess we'll hear something soon if Tapert and Raimi like what they see in this new script...
