Exclusive 1:1 Interview: Alexandre Aja talks Horns at SDCC!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Alexandre Aja has tackled strange, horrific subject matter before – THE HILLS HAVE EYES and PIRANHA being two prime examples – but his latest, HORNS, takes him into uncharted territory. Just as PIRANHA was a slight departure for the director thanks to its tongue-in-cheek tone, HORNS finds him doing something that isn’t reliant on blood, guts and shocks; instead, it’s a mystery-thriller with supernatural elements, a tragic and romantic tale of a young man searching for salvation even as he grows devil horns on his head. Yes, it’s an unusual one.

I got the chance to speak to Aja at last week’s Comic-Con in San Diego about the bizarre material, his collaborations with author Joe Hill and star Daniel Radcliffe, and working once again with the Weinstein brothers.

If you missed them, be sure to check out our interviews with Joe Hill and Daniel Radcliffe!
