Exorcist II: The Heretic 2-Disc Collector’s Edition Blu-ray coming soon

I think it's safe to say that one of the most infamous horror sequels in history is EXORCIST II: THE HERETIC. But it looks like the film will be getting a new lease on life via Scream Factory this September. The release will be branded as a 2-Disc "Collector’s Edition" that will come with a slipcover guaranteed for three months after its original release date. The newly-commissioned artwork comes to us from the CRP Group (SERIAL MOM, DRAG ME TO HELL, DEAD RINGERS). This art will be front-facing and the reverse side of the wrap will be the original theatrical poster design.

Linda Blair returns as Regan MacNeil who is:

Plagued by bizarre nightmares four years after her possession and exorcism. Has the demon returned? And if so, can the combined faith and knowledge of a Vatican investigator (Richard Burton) and a research specialist (Louise Fletcher) free her from its grasp? Employing production design and special effects that are dizzily exhilarating and a supporting cast (Max von Sydow, Paul Henreid, James Earl Jones) of compelling distinction, director John Boorman draws us into the tangible experience of evil. We fly with the demon, feel the African landscape vibrate and get engulfed in the terror of swarming locusts as Exorcist II: The Heretic weaves its fascinating, frightful spell.

Extras are in progress and will be announced in August but Scream Factory did confirm the Collector's Edition will include new, high-definition transfers of two cuts of the film: the 117-minute version that has been widely available, and a shorter, alternate cut that was created after the film’s initial release. It will also include an all-new interview with Blair.

The sequel is directed by John Boorman (DELIVERANCE) and co-stars Richard Burton, Louise Fletcher, Max von Sydow, Kitty Winn, Paul Henreid, and James Earl Jones. It will be released as a two-disc Collector’s Edition Blu-ray via Scream Factory on September 25th
