F13 female lead is…

Last Updated on July 27, 2021

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the casting rumor from earlier this week (check it out HERE), as Danielle Panabaker has ‘officially’ been cast as the female lead in the upcoming FRIDAY THE 13TH remake.

As the female lead, you can pretty much assume Panabaker is going to survive the whole ordeal at Crystal Lake, escaping Jason’s vengeful machete by an inch, ‘killing’ him, and getting away at the end. Or Platinum Dunes could surprise us, and pull a TCM: THE BEGINNING move, with Jason killing everybody and walking off into the sunset, awaiting his next batch of victims. Now that would be pretty cool!

The casting of Jonathan Sadowski, Travis van Winkle, and Aaron Yoo was also confirmed, supplying even more warm bodies for Jason to get rid of. Here’s a brief summary of the character breakdowns: Panabaker is playing the adventurous, athletic girlfriend of van Winkle, who plays a rich alpha male type that gathers everyone together. Yoo’s character, named Chumbler, is a guy who’s a little quirky and has a tendency to wear his attraction to pretty girls on his sleeve. Sadowski plays a techie who knows the horrific history of Camp Crystal Lake.

Awesome. A techie. At Camp Crystal Lake. I hope he’s the first to go! There ain’t no place for a techie at Camp Crystal Lake, but hey… maybe that’s just me. I mean, you’re in the woods… not to mention it’s supposed to be in the mid-eighties.

The confirmation of the casting news is pretty cool (though the casting of Willa Ford was not confirmed), and as a fan of Jason, I’m starting to get more and more excited for this flick. I mean, it’s obviously NOT a remake, just another entry in one of my favorite slasher franchises… gotta be excited about that, right? Stick around for more on FRIDAY THE 13TH as we hear it!
