Fido Details

Jun. 3, 2005by: Ammon Gilbert

Why it hasn't been though of before is beyond me, but as SHAUN OF THE DEAD masterfully integrated comedy and zombie, another film is coming out that combines both laughs with rotting flesh.

FIDO, directed by Andrew Currie, will star Henry Czerny, Carrie-Anne Moss, Peter Stormare and Tim Blake Nelson. Fangoria was able to sniff out the story details:

FIDO details the effects of Earths passage through a cloud of space dust, which results in the dead arising from their graves. In an attempt to quell the mayhem, a patented domestication collar is invented by a company called ZomCom, helping society integrate the zombie hordes, who quickly become gardeners, milkmen, butlers and even pets. A boy named Timmy Robinson befriends a ghoul that his mom buys to help around the houseand then has to defend his new pal when the creatures collar goes wonky and it begins reverting to its flesheating ways.

Oh. Hells. Yeah. I'm already salivating with delight, as it sounds like this is just what the zombie film community needs- a chance to take a step back and laugh. Especially after this summer's LAND OF THE DEAD. Too bad FIDO won't be hitting screens until sometime next year..
