Filming on Bong Joon-ho's chilly thriller Snow Piercer wraps

07.17.2012by: Eric Walkuski

Yes! Just one step further to seeing Bong Joon-ho and Park Chan-wook's SNOW PIERCER!

According to Screen Daily, investor/distributor CJ E&M announced that the shoot wrapped over the weekend on the post-apocalyptic thriller in Prague. Bong will now head to Korea to commence post-production.

SNOW PIERCER, based on the graphic novel "Le Transperceneige" by Jacques Lob, wound up being the most expensive Korean film ever, with a budget of 45 billion won ($39 million USD).

Set in an post-apocalyptic world, a world war has ravaged the world which is now covered completely in snow. The only means for survival is to board the Transperceneige (snow train), but the train only has 1001 coaches. On the train, the poor wallow in misery in the lower decks, while the rich lives in decadence in the upper decks. Then their two worlds start to collide...

We've said it before, more than a few times, but this team-up between the director of THE HOST and the man who brought us the "Vengeance Trilogy" is one of the most exciting collaborations behind the camera in a long while.

The fantastic international cast for SNOW PIERCER includes Chris Evans, Octavia Specer, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Kang Ho Song, Ewan Bremner and Kenny Doughty. The film will come out at some point next year.

Extra Tidbit: Now I just need to get an English-language version of "Le Transperceneige!"
