Filmmaker Jonathan Liebesman talks a sequel to Battle: Los Angeles!

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Jonathan Liebesman’s BATTLE: LOS ANGELES is undoubtedly one of my favorite flicks of the last several years. I popped this thing in not expecting much and I was left in aw when the credits started rolling. Since then I’ve seen the thing countless times. So with that being said it should come as no surprise to anyone that I’m absolutely stoked to hear there is movement on a BATTLE: LOS ANGELES sequel!

You see the folks over at Collider recently had a chance to chat with filmmaker Jonathan Liebesman about his upcoming WRATH OF THE TITANS but the topic quickly changed to Los Angeles and the epic battle that took place there. When asked if he was working on a sequel to the impressive sci-fi war pic Liebesman responded:

“We’ve just started the script now, so that’s where we are. We have just begun the script. Just because I don’t want the studio to get pissed at me, I’m not sure what I can and can’t say about it. But what’s exciting is it sounds like the budget will be as big. They’re really going to make it an event.”

Like the first one wasn’t? I’m not quite sure I like where Liebesman is going with this…. One of the best things about the first film was that it followed this small group of Marines during a world crisis. My gut is telling me a larger scale in the second flick might not be a good thing… Of course we’ll have to wait until we hear more about the project before jumping to any conclusions.

You can go ahead and tap the interview in the video below. We’ll of course keep our eyes and ears open for more on this sequel to BATTLE: LOS ANGELES and when that comes our way we’ll be sure to pass it right along to all of you.
