The Brothers Strause's 2010 alien invasion film SKYLINE wasn't exactly well received by its audience, but Liam O'Donnell, who co-wrote SKYLINE and was one of its producers, is looking to redeem the brand with a sequel titled BEYOND SKYLINE. Judging by the cast, he might have a shot at it – Frank Grillo of THE PURGE: ANARCHY and Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian of THE RAID fighting aliens is certainly something I want to see.

BEYOND SKYLINE will mark the feature directorial debut of O'Donnell, who also wrote the screenplay. The film centers on

a tough-as-nails detective who embarks on a relentless pursuit to free his son from a nightmarish alien warship.

The sequel wrapped production quite a while ago, but while we wait for information on the release plans a video has shown up online that gives us our first look at Iko Uwais in action in the movie (although his face is obscured by a helmet for most of the clip). Not only does he have to deal with invading aliens in this two minute excerpt, but O'Donnell also gives him a human opponent to knock around.

This clip was released as a preview of the X-Spatial 4D Psychoacoustics audio optimization technology, which BEYOND SKYLINE is the first film to use. The idea is that this technology will provide "360-degree superlative audio-visual enjoyment" regardless of where a viewer is sitting in the theatre – every spot in the room is the audio "sweet spot".

In addition to the actors listed above, BEYOND SKYLINE also stars Bojana Novakovic, Jonny Weston, Callan Mulvey, Antonio Fargas, Pamelyn Chee, Jacob Vargas, Valentine Payen, Betty Gabriel, Jack Chausse, and Kevin O'Donnell.
