First look at creepy Helen Mirren in Winchester

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Boom. And just like that WINCHESTER became a must-see horror flick. Sometimes it doesn't take much. Sometimes all it takes, in fact, is a creepy picture of Helen Mirren looking creepy and I'm all in – hook, line, and Winchester rifle.

The upcoming flick WINCHESTER is coming at us from The Spierig Brothers, who are hot off the newest installment of the SAW franchise SAW: LEGACY, which hits this October. Their new film is, dare I say, a higher pedigree than the eighth SAW sequel. I mean, come on, you get Helen Mirren to be in your horror movies and all of the sudden you're not hanging at conventions with a bunch of dudes, you are getting together your Oscar speech.

True story. How much do you want to bet that Helen Mirren gets nominated for an Oscar for this film? Any takers? No. Okay then, I guess we'll just have to play "I Told You So" come next year.

You can check out the creepy image of Helen Mirren below and the official synopsis that will tell you who she's playing and what her creepy deal is. That's if you're not already aware of the legendary Winchester house… Booooo….

WINCHESTER synopsis:

Inspired by true events, WINCHESTER follows the story of firearm heiress Sarah Winchester (Helen Mirren), who was convinced that she was haunted by the souls killed at the hands of the Winchester Repeating Rifle. After the sudden deaths of her husband and child, she threw herself into the 24-hours a day, seven days a week construction of an enormous mansion designed to keep the evil spirits at bay. But when skeptical San Francisco psychiatrist Eric Price (Jason Clarke) is dispatched to the estate to evaluate her state of mind, he discovers that her obsession may not be so insane after all. The film will take audiences inside the labyrinth-like house that is believed to be one of the most haunted places in the world.

WINCHESTER is written and directed by Michael Spierig & Peter Spierig and stars Helen Mirren, Jason Clarke, Sarah Snook, and Angus Sampson.

WINCHESTER hits theaters in the Spring of 2018
