First Pacific Rim poster stands on the shoulders of giant robots

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Guillermo del Toro’s PACIFIC RIM may still have a year to go before it hits theaters, but the promotional machine seems to be picking up steam. Thankfully so, because the more we see from the robots-vs-monsters epic, the more pumped we get. We’ve already seen some of the cast in kick-ass costumes and now it’s time for the official one-sheet, giving us a glimpse at one of the giant “Jaeger” robots, that will tear shit up on-screen next year. Check out the poster below.

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

PACIFIC RIM is set to destroy theaters July 12th 2013, starring Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Ron Perlman with a supporting cast including Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff and Brad William Henke. We’re bound to see more cool stuff from the film coming from Comic-Con this week.
