Fox officially orders Kevin Williamson’s serial killer series, gets new title?

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Hmm…very interesting.

So yesterday came the news that Fox was on the brink of ordering Kevin Williamson’s “Mastermind” to series. You know, the longtime untitled project about a cult of serial killers. Well, according to THR today, Fox has indeed ordered a full slate of episodes…though they refer to the show as “The Following.” What the hell gives?

Perhaps Deadline, which also confirms the series pickup, knows the show is still untitled, as no mention of the show’s name is seen in the article. It did mention that the series will likely be a midseason pickup due to Kevin Bacon’s mere 15 episode commitment.

But whatever it’s called, the show is described as an edge-of-your-seat thriller about the complex relationship between a diabolical serial killer James Purefoy) and the damaged FBI agent (Bacon) who took him down. After the killer escaped, the agent is reactivated and discovers that he is no longer just hunting one man, but a massive cult of serial killers created and manipulated during his time in prison.

Maggie Grace, Nico Tortorella, Jeananne Goossen, Nathalie Zea (below), Shawn Ashmore and Valorie Curry help round out the cast.
