Mar. 26, 2014by: Eric Walkuski

Robert Rodriguez's El Rey Network announced plans today to greenlight a second season of the network's first scripted original, "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series".

Based on the cult classic film of the same name, season two will be comprised of 13 hour-long episodes and will be shot in Austin, Texas, home to the filmmaker's Troublemaker Studios. Marking Rodriguez's first foray into television, the program premiered in the U.S. on El Rey Network on Tuesday, March 11th and premiered exclusively on Netflix through their run-of-series license in Canada, Ireland, Nordics, Netherlands, the UK and Latin America. Season two will also be available internationally on Netflix following the US premiere.

Rodriguez, who created the series and directed four of the first season's installments, said: This is a truly unique property and one that has really resonated for viewers. It has been a joy to bring these characters back to life and have the opportunity to take our storytelling to a whole new place. We look forward to going back into production later this year and are excited about raising the bar even higher in season two."

"From Dusk Till Dawn" stars D.J. Cotrona, Zane Holtz, Jesse Garcia, Eiza Gonzlez, Wilmer Valderrama, Adrianne Palicki, Jake Busey, Don Johnson, Madison Davenport, Lane Garrison, Robert Patrick, and Brandon Soo Hoo.

So tell us: have you been watching "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series"? If so, what do you think so far?

Love the channel.

Watch one commercial break and it just feels like a channel by Robert Rodriguez. All that plays are Starsky and Hutch, X-Files, this show, movies that him and Tarantino have directed and 70's Grindhouse movies (particularly kung-fu). As for this show I thought the first episode felt a little long but after this week's cameo by the Big Kahunah Burger I think It might be a new favorite. Plus the acting is really good (better than the film) as well as the plot.

I like the show, though I don't feel it's necessary to put in that much info about vampires this early in. Hope the second season is not based on Texas Blood Money.

Yeah I've been watching and it is interesting. One thing that makes me mad though is how they made a big deal about having Don Johnson in it. Then they kill him off in the first episode! I hate when studios do this! They sucker you in with the promise of an actor and then take them away. Hopefully they have a way to bring him back.

Beautiful. But no, not watching. *looks up Eiza Gonzlez's* Well... I might watch a few minutes of the first episode.
