From the producers of Paranormal Activity here comes Ghosts!

01.23.2013by: Lizandro Melean

LIONSGATE, a studio that I truly respect, has slated GHOSTS to haunt cinemas on January 10, 2014. GHOSTS is the new working title for this new horror film (the first one was JESSABELLE) that wants to get under your skin.

Kevin Greuter, the guy who did SAW 6 and SAW 7, directs the dilio and stars Sarah Snook, Mark Webber, and Joelle Carter. The movie was written by Robert Ben Garant and here's the official story: “After losing her fiancé in a horrific accident, Jessabelle is forced to recuperate at her father’s ruined Louisiana mansion, where she discovers a strange gift from her long-dead mother, and a terrifying presence determined to destroy her.”

The movie comes from Blumhouse Productions the producers of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, INSIDIOUS and its upcoming sequel boringly titled INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 2.

Blumhouse Productions is one of the best horror studios out there. They even did a haunted horror house last Halloween in Los Angeles called BLUMHOUSE OF HORRORS. Lovely.

Extra Tidbit: What do you think about Joelle Carter...hot or not?

Lizandro, your article mentions unnecessarily boring titles. Yeah, a person notices that Hollywood habit recently. Dibbuk Box could have stuck out as a title, but it became The Possession. Jessabelle could have made people wonder what the movie was about, but the movie is now just Ghosts. I am sure that other AITH readers could think of other examples. It as though The Producers run Hollywood. Do producers want Ghosts to tank? It as though Hollywood assumes that we are ill-informed simpletons

It as though The Producers run Hollywood. Do producers want Ghosts to tank? It as though Hollywood assumes that we are ill-informed simpletons who need simple, familiar titles that require little processing. Maybe, they assume that people have such short attention spans (and lazy curiosity and limited knowledge) that those people will not read-up on dibbuks or Jessabelle if a person does not know the terms already. Oddly enough, anyone can research those terms faster than a person has ever been able to research new terms before.
