These have been a turbulent last few days/weeks to be a FRIDAY THE 13TH fan. Not only did we get a new FRIDAY THE 13TH flick announced (sweet!) we also got that film yanked out of our claws at the zero hour (weak...)

Then a few days ago, I shared with you guys the full rundown on what we would have seen had the planned Breck Eisner-helmed FRIDAY THE 13TH remake (yeah, it was another remake) gotten off the ground.

Well today I've got something special to show you. As you may remember before the Breck Eisner F13 film there was also one planned with HANNIBAL writer CHANNEL ZERO showrunner Nick Antosca penning the script and David Bruckner (VHS) directing. As it turns out someone went and slapped the full screenplay for Nick & David's movie up online.

Nick had this to say:

Don't seem like the man is too upset about his work getting out there like this. But why would he be? Now at least people will be reading his work, and as a writer I can tell you, that's ALL that matters to a writer; people reading your work.

That and a boat-fulla butt-naked b*tchs.

I'm kidding, I'm kidding.

Here is a link to the full script HERE

Give it a read asap and hit us up with your thoughts on the unproduced F13 script!

FRIDAY THE 13TH (2009) star Danielle Panabaker.

Extra Tidbit: Read the script and write your thoughts in the comments below. I'd love to talk about it further.

Could have worked

I like a lot of the "coming of age at camp" / building sense of dread stretch. Aside from the year of Jason's drowning being arbitrarily moved forward to 1966 (they should just leave out dates like they did in F13 '09), there's very little I would change about the first 65 pages. Antosca is not good at writing Jason, though. Once the killing really kicks in it falls apart for me. Things like having Jason run at a group of five people in broad daylight read terribly and would look even worse.

Things like having Jason run at a group of five people in broad daylight read terribly and would look even worse. Those last 38 pages need a total rewrite. But they had a year and a half to do it. They should have kept working on this script instead of ditching it for the "origin-ish" mess. This could have worked with some revisions. In this state, it's somehow a Friday the 13th script where I love the character work but hate most of the kills.
