Production woes be damned, WORLD WAR Z is on the brink...
Earlier this week we were promised the trailer for Marc Forster's long embattled zombie epic would hit today, a sleek teaser and poster taunting us as bait. Well folks, iTunes kept their promise. Take aim at the WWZ trailer below!
Starring Brad Pitt, Mirielle Enos (below), James Badge Dale, David Morse and Matthew Fox:
WORLD WAR Z revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.
WWZ takes over theaters June 21st.

All that said it would have obviously been amazing has a truly epic scale proper R-rated Zombie movie been made from the material. Maybe one day.
Side note : It truly is bizarre to see and recognise Glasgow being passed off as New York. I guess this is how actual New Yorkers and people from Toronto normally feel. Gutted I couldn't sneak through to watch filming.
Well I think...
Yep ...
Nope, not even close to the source material but even so...

Run!
That's what I foresee some people unfamiliar with the title saying. It's a well-made and intense trailer with what looks like some stunning set pieces, but I don't think the trailer sells the movie at all. There's no mention of zombies, just glimpses of running herds of people. It just looks like another big scale Roland Emmerich disaster adventure with a BOURNE style and running people as the threat. It doesn't come across as a horror film at all. Sure, the Z in the title may tip a few people off, but the general public isn't very smart at deciphering titles. I once knew of someone who took little kids to see BLACK X-MAS because they thought it was a Tyler Perry-esque holiday comedy. The CGI zombies are better than I AM LEGEND (which isn't saying anything), though they still look animated.
Production woes mean nothing come opening day. I will judge the film according the final product, not now. It's just a first trailer. It looks like a tired premise. A $100 million version of 28 DAYS LATER and I AM LEGEND-- Oh wait, and every George Romero movie, but we knew that the second it was green lit. I'll see it and I hope it's great.
