Page Six, that most reliable of all the superficial gossip spewers, is reporting that Sarah Michelle Gellar won't be following the White Rabbit to a f*cked up Wonderland in a project she's long been attached to, AMERICAN McGEE'S ALICE. Maggie Grace (hot and annoying in LOST) is supposedly next in line to play the character.
To use their words, Gellar has been "yanked," although no reason is specified. Grace isn't confirmed, but is in "talks," and I suppose she would fit the bill just as well (neither of them can really act, but Grace is cuter).
Marcus Nispel is at the helm, but has FRIDAY THE 13th on his plate first. The project has been floating around for years, with Wes Craven attached for most of its existence, along with Gellar (Christina Ricci and Gellar's partner in vampire slaying, Eliza Dushku have also flirted with it). The screenplay is by WHITEOUT scribes Jon and Erich Hoeber, although John August (CHARLIE'S ANGELS) worked on previous drafts.
In case you don't know what the sam hell I'm talking about, ALICE is based on a video game "sequel" to ALICE IN WONDERLAND, which finds Alice as a take-no-shit chick going back to Wonderland and finding it quite different from the one she knew. It's apparently very popular although I've never played a second of it. Then again, I haven't even played Halo, so what the f*ck do I know?
What say you folks? Who'd you rather see kick Red Queen ass?
