Genetically altered bugs abound in Jitters, Sky High director Mike Mitchell onboard

Take cover folks…genetically altered bugs are being hatched in the form of JITTERS

According to THR, Paramount has tapped director Mike Mitchell – the filmmaker behind such untouchables as SHREK FOREVER AFTER and ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED – to helm JITTERS…a family fantasy-adventure cut from the same mold as those 80s Amblin films we grew up with.

No plot details have leaked at this point, save for the fact JITTERS will deal with some kind of mutant-bug species. Being labeled as family fare, I wouldn’t expect MIMIC or anything like that, but some kind of easily digestible creature-feature with kids running around. Sounds fun enough I suppose, even if this Mitchell fella doesn’t exactly inspire greatness. I mean, J.J. Abrams tried with SUPER 8 and achieved moderate success, but is there anyone who would compare Mitchell with Abrams? Not likely.

JITTERS was written by Marc Haimes, and will be produced jointly with Paramount by Benderspink.

More on JITTERS as it shakes up…
