Apollo 18 release bumped again, now landing in September

The release of APOLLO 18 was been all over the place – it was originally due out this past March and at one point was pushed until next year. Most recently, it was scheduled to open on August 26, but now that there’s a lot of hype behind DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK – opening the same day – since the release of its trailer, APOLLO is getting knocked back a week to September 2. It will be opening against SHARK NIGHT 3D.

The film is directed by Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego (KING OF THE HILL) off a screenplay by Brian Miller with re-writes from Cory Goodman (PRIEST). Timur Bekmambetov and Ron Schmidt are producing. Details on the cast remain under wraps.

Officially, Apollo 17 – launched December 17th, 1972 – was the last manned mission to the moon. But a year later, in December of 1973, two American astronauts were sent on a secret mission to the moon funded by the US Department of Defense. What you are about to see is the actual footage that the astronauts captured on that mission. While NASA denies its authenticity, others say it’s the real reason we’ve never gone back to the moon.
