Guillermo del Toro gives Hellboy reboot his blessing

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

The last bit of news we shared with you guys on the HELLBOY reboot front was that new Hellboy David Harbour let slip that the new flick is set to start filming this September. With the project moving forward at such a brisk pace, I bet you're wondering (like I am ) what original HELLBOY filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro thinks of all this.

Well, today I can finally share with you some of the man's words on the project. And, go figure, in true Del Toro fashion he handles this (possibly quite painful) situation with utter class and dignity. You have got to the love the hell out of this man.

Del Toro on HELLBOY: RISE OF THE BLOOD QUEEN:

I don’t own Hellboy, Mike [Mignola] does. So, you know, he is the father of the character and if he wants to reboot it, it’s perfectly fine. I got to make two — that’s two more than I thought I would get to make … So you know, as far as I’m concerned god speed and god bless.

Good for you, Del Toro. Sh*t happens and projects fall part. Not that the man doesn't full and well know that by now with more than a handful of his dream projects being halted at the zero-hour. I'm looking at you, AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS.

Del Toro isn't by any means hurting for work as you can imagine, with his next flick, THE SHAPE OF WATER set to hit us this December. That flick was recently slapped with a glorious R-rating so you know I'm going to be checking out whatever shape this water takes this winter.

What do you think of Del Toro's comments, the upcoming HELLBOY reboot, and/or THE SHAPE OF WATER? Let us know on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

THE SHAPE OF WATER hits theaters nationwide December 8th.
