Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water hits this December

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Just like every other human on the planet, I am always excited for the new/next flick by Guillermo del Toro. I think PAN'S LABYRINTH and to a (much) lesser degree CRIMSON PEAK are classics, his new film THE SHAPE OF WATER I can only hope is another entry in his unofficial violent, but gorgeous, fairy tales for adults series.

News has been slim on the newest flick, but today we received a press release which calls THE SHAPE OF WATER "an other-worldly fairy tale, set against the backdrop of Cold War-era America circa 1963" and that sounds just enough like THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE and PAN'S LABYRINTH to get me more excited than Christmas. Speaking of Christmas…

THE SHAPE OF WATER will be hitting screen December 8th, 2017.

THE SHAPE OF WATER synopsis:

In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is trapped in a life of silence and isolation. Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment.

THE SHAPE OF WATER is directed by Guillermo del Toro, written by Vanessa Taylor & del Toro, and stars Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones, Michael Stulbarg, and Octavia Spencer.

Once again, THE SHAPE OF WATER hits theaters nationwide December 8th

Still holding on the hope TSOW is really about this guy.
