Guillermo del Toro to produce Channel Zero creator’s Antlers

Blade II Guillermo del Toro

Fox Searchlight is distributing Guillermo del Toro's latest film THE SHAPE OF WATER, and they plan to stay in the del Toro business beyond that. The company has set up a project called ANTLERS, and del Toro will be producing the film alongside David S. Goyer and Kevin Turen of Phantom Four.

The screenplay for ANTLERS was written by Henry Chaisson and Channel Zero creator Nick Antosca. It tells the story of

a fourth-grade teacher who tries to help a troubled boy in her class, only to discover that he’s been hiding a nightmarish secret. Now something terrifying is coming for the boy, and she has to protect him.

Goyer and del Toro previously worked together on BLADE II, which del Toro directed and Goyer wrote and executive produced. Goyer has also worked with Antosca before, as he produced THE FOREST and Antosca was one of the writers on that.

Antosca's other genre credits include the Hannibal television series and a rejected-but-solid draft of Paramount's cancelled FRIDAY THE 13TH reboot.

The synopsis for ANTLERS doesn't give away what sort of movie this is, but whatever it is it's in pretty good hands.
