Halloween 3 on track and moving forward, official Halloween site declares

May. 2, 2014by: Eric Walkuski

As you may have heard a few days ago, HALLOWEEN 3 (or 3D) seems to be shaking the cobwebs off and climbing out of development hell. Bloody Disgusting reported that the Weinstein Company has moved closer to launching the new sequel, after about five years of attempting to crack the story. No details were available, but the very news that Michael Myers may yet live to fight another day whipped up a frenzy of mixed opinions. (Generally, the new was taken positively.)

Today we learn HalloweenMovies, the official website for Halloween and Michael Myers, has issued a statement on the matter. Read on:

As you know, we do not comment on rumors regarding a Halloween film in any stage of production no matter how accurate or inaccurate they may be. However, over the past few months, we have been flooded with ton(s) of emails, tweets, facebook postings etc regarding the status of next installment.

As we stated before, we are dedicated to the fans of the Halloween series just as much as we are dedicated to delivering a film that we believe the fans deserve and will, most importantly, love. With that being said, we can confirm that a new installment of Halloween is indeed in on track and moving forward. We are currently developing a script, to finally bring Michael back to the theaters! More information will be released over the coming months and exclusively at Halloweenmovies.com. So make sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook, so you can know first!

So if it wasn't official before, it seems fairly solid now: HALLOWEEN 3 is coming at us, in some form or another, in the near-ish future.

Extra Tidbit: Celebrate the news with the above classic scene from John Carpenter's original!

How To Fix It

Starting a new sequel from where Resurrection left off isn't that hard. The first 10 minutes of Halloween 9 should be about Myers returning, and killing Busta Rhymes, VIOLENTLY, like he should have. Then the rest of the movie should focus to two characters who are going after Myers. After 8 movies of Myers, make one where he is the one being hunted down. Hunted down by Laurie Strode's son John, who has teamed up with Tommy Doyle. John for revenge for his Mom, Tommy because he knows the evil

I wish man, but...

...There are two huge problems with doing this... the first, obviously, is the turd of a remake. The second, is that H20 played out as a third sequel to the original Halloween (making no mention of the events of 4, 5, and 6). It actually repeatedly says that Michael has been in hiding since the second movie, waiting for John to turn the same age that Laurie was in the first (which makes him stalking her daughter at a very young age in 4,5, and 6 not make any sense). It actually repeatedly says that Michael has been in hiding since the second movie, waiting for John to turn the same age that Laurie was in the first (which makes him stalking her daughter at a very young age in 4,5, and 6 not make any sense). Many times throughout the film, the characters tell Laurie that it's been 20 years since anyone's heard from Michael, and that she needs to stop worrying and move on.

This franchise has been fucked since H20, which is why many true fans (Not all true fans. I actually like H20) resent it. It killed the Thorn plotline, and while it was a success, it was also a big middle finger to the people following the franchise. The two stories can't be meshed without a ton of contradictions, and we will never get a big screen conclusion to the Thorn plotline. This 3rd movie WILL be a follow up to the Rob Zombie shit fests, and it WILL be another nail in the Myer's coffin because the Weinstein's do not give a fuck about the loyal fan base of these franchises.

Halloween is garbage

"...we are dedicated to the fans of the Halloween series"

You are? Then stop making this crap. Put your resources into original intellectual property if you are truly here for the fans. We are fans of horror first and foremost. I'd rather watch the original Halloween 3 then ever see another retarded iteration of Michael Meyers.
